The Communion chalice used on Sunday, December 4 was handcrafted by the late Leon (Lee) Sperow, a long-time member of Covenant. Lee was a talented jewelry maker and silversmith. With palm branches, choir and percussion, and very loud “Hosannas” from the congregation directed by Pastor Kevin, Covenant celebrated its 100th Palm Sunday. As Pastor Mark noted, Palm Sunday remembers Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and Passion Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week. Watch the service below.
On October 2, Rev. Bob Mongold, who served Covenant as Senior Pastor from 1988 to 2004, returned to the pulpit. Bob and his wife Dianne traveled from their retirement home in Williamsburg, VA to take part in the Anniversary celebration. Covenant’s egg hunt saw lots of rabbit ears (Pastor Mark included) and chick headbands scurrying through the yard and playground at Covenant.
